Vicky Tsaconas is based in Melbourne. She was born there; her parents migrated to Australia from Greece in the 1950‘s. Vicky writes primarily poetry, but also essays and critical reviews. Her poetry has been published in the anthology Southern Sun Aegean Light, Hobo Poetry Magazine, & and Unusual Work, her prose in the anthology Mothers from the Edge. In 1996 she won second prize in the Poetry Section of the Greek Australian Cultural League Literary Competition. In 2003, one of her poems was Highly Commended in the Daffodil Day Arts Awards. Vicky was one of the founding members and editors of ΔΙΦΩΝΙΕΣ (Difonies) Journal of Greek Australian Thought, to which she also contributed a number of essays. Her essays and reviews have appeared online and have been published in a range of publications in Australia and overseas, including LIKE Art Magazine, ARTI and Senses of Cinema.
