The Vigil

Miltos Sahtouris original
Translated by N.N. Trakakis

Everyone is asleep
and I lie awake
I thread silver moons
through a golden string
and I wait for dawn
for the birth
of a new god
in my heart
which has frozen
from savage spirits
and black sorrow.

This poem was written by leading Modern Greek poet, Miltos Sachtouris (1919-2005),
